A space designed to cook, create and collaborate with food.
The Kitchen Collective is made up of a collection of very different food studios based in and around Cape Town. The Kitchen Collective Food Studios (City Bowl) has three professional fully equipped kitchen studios in one venue. Ginger & Lime (Fresnaye) is based in an elegant manor house with a beautiful terrace for outdoor events and Salt & Sage (Bantry Bay) is a sleek, state of the art open plan space with stunning sea views.
These are all perfect places to host various events; Interactive Cooking Experiences, Corporate Teambuilding, MasterChef Parties, Private Functions, Product Launches, Cape Malay Cooking Experiences for our international guests and much more. The unique aspect of The Kitchen Collective space is that as well as the main open plan Demo “Theatre” Kitchen, there are 2 glass enclosed kitchen studios for hire by industry professionals for catering, private chefs, cooking workshops, film crews, food stylists and photographers for shoots, as well as anyone that needs a kitchen space to prep for any occasion.
At The Kitchen Collective, we pride ourselves on making each and every event a unique, bespoke experience collaborating closely with our clients vision to make it happen. We are absolutely passionate about what we do.

What we offer

Get involved and creative as you cook a well-thought-out menu of around 6 – 8 dishes, enjoying each dish as you go along. Hosted by Ginger & Lime @ The Kitchen Collective, these experiences are so much more than an ordinary “cooking lesson”. Learn tips and tricks, create new dishes, and experience the magic that happens when you cook together with a bunch of like-minded foodies in a fun and relaxed way. We also host some of Cape Town’s top Chefs for these cooking experiences.

What better way to celebrate a special occasion than to have a bespoke menu designed for you, and have a team of excellent chefs prepare this in front of you! Food theatre and live entertainment at its best! See what goes on behind the scenes in the restaurants, watch the creations as the dishes emerge and enjoy a feast of note. Ask the chefs questions, sneak a peak at the techniques they are using, and have a fun evening. Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries and any occasion that deserves a celebration. Interactive Cooking Experiences also possible for groups.

Designed for those with a competitive streak, your team has a chance to express creativity and at the same time, enhance the cohesiveness of your working team. With our MasterChef Experiences, teams will receive a hero ingredient or a ‘mystery box’ and are encouraged to create delicious dishes under the watchful eye of our experienced chefs. Teams are given feedback and scored in a fun and informative way. Afterwards, teams will sit together at long dining tables and enjoy the fruits of their labour.

The Kitchen Collective space is a blank canvas of 380sqm which can be adapted for many types of events; product launches, photo & film shoots, bespoke occasions, guest chef demos and can also be used as a pop-up restaurant. The entrance foyer is used for welcome drinks and cocktails. This leads onto the main open-plan “theatre” kitchen which is perfect for both interactive and demo purposes, and this leads onto an open-plan dining area. There are 2 fully equipped glass-enclosed satellite kitchens, a scullery area, 3 bathrooms, ample parking and on-site security.

Our kitchen studios are the perfect space to use as your own to prep, cook or produce your food. Our 3 brand-new, semi-commercial kitchens are great to use for catering companies, private chefs, specialty food makers, food stylists and photographers, recipe developers and menu testing, staff training, cooking workshops and food stall/food truck owners. Our kitchens are mostly for short-term rentals for a few days or week here and there. Work in a space with like-minded people that are working towards a similar goal.

Set on the doorstep of the famous BoKaap Cape Malay area, we have incorporated a new course designed for our visiting guests to experience a unique meal prepared by our local Malay cooks. Information on the history and spices used in the cuisine, as well as local anecdotes, will be shared by our knowledgeable and entertaining host. What a lovely way for your group to immerse themselves in the traditions and culture of the Cape! Gourmet Braai Experiences can be hosted at Ginger & Lime during the summer months, and are a sure way of giving your group an authentic taste of South Africa.
Stay up to date with our upcoming courses.
